Seven Warriors Named to All-Conference List

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Football All-Conference Team has been selected after a vote of the league coaches. Midland University had seven players earn recognition on the list including four All-GPAC First Team honors, four All-GPAC Second Team picks, and an honorable mention.

Tyson Denkert picked up three honors. He was named to the first team as a running back and punt return specialist. Additionally, he was named to the second team as a kick return specialist. Joining him on the All-GPAC First Team are Xavier Green (linebacker) and Callan Phillips (offensive line).

The Warriors' second-team selections, along with Denkert, were Kalynd Coats (wide receiver), Treden Davis-Reed (linebacker), and Gunnar Vanek (offensive line). Tray Kingsland was named an honorable mention as a defensive back.

"I'm happy that other GPAC coaches noticed the efforts of Kalynd, Tyson, Xavier, Callan, Treden, Gunnar, and Tray," said head coach Jeff Jamrog. "It is impressive that Xavier Green is a two-time all-conference player and Tyson Denkert made all-conference in three categories. While we didn't reach all of our team goals this year, we did earn our eighth-consecutive winning season, which is the longest active streak in our state. The future looks bright for our program and we are looking forward to the 2024 football season."

Jalyn Gramstad of Northwestern was named the GPAC Offensive Player of the Year while Lonell Boyd Jr. of Morningside was named the GPAC Defensive Player of the Year. Matt McCarty of Northwestern was selected as the GPAC Coach of the Year.
