Warriors Earn Four All-GPAC Recognitions

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced its 2026 Women's Wrestling All-Conference Teams. Midland University had three athletes earn all-conference honors, with one additional wrestler receiving honorable mention.

Maci Avila, a senior from Henderson, Nevada, was named to the All-GPAC First Team after winning the 138-pound division. Avila, who is ranked No. 14 in the NAIA, recorded a fall and a technical fall to advance to the title bout. In the championship match, she earned an 8-4 decision over the No. 4-ranked wrestler.

Ja'Nya Banks, a junior from Hobbs, New Mexico, won the 160-pound division at the conference championships and was named to the All-GPAC First Team. Banks pinned her first-round opponent and won her final two matches by technical fall. She is currently ranked No. 17 in the NAIA heading into nationals.

Taylor Hood, a junior from Buhl, Idaho, was named to the All-GPAC Second Team after placing second in the 117-pound division. She won by technical fall in the semifinals, then defaulted in the championship match due to injury. Hood is currently ranked No. 12 in the NAIA and has qualified for nationals, which will be held in two weeks.

Danielle Franco, a freshman from Las Vegas, Nevada, earned honorable mention after placing fourth in the 138-pound division at the GPAC Championships. After dropping her opening bout, Franco recorded back-to-back wins by fall before falling in a rematch against her first-round opponent.
