Warriors Sweep Team Titles for Fifth Straight Season
ATLANTA, Ga. – Midland University dominated the 2024 USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals, securing national titles in both the raw and equipped divisions. The title sweep is the Warriors' fifth in a row and brings their national title count to 11 in program history.
In the equipped category, Alexis Iglesias and Alexandra Lazarus claimed the top two spots in the 44kg class. Iglesias totaled 347.5kg, while Lazarus lifted 280kg. Lily Falcone won the 48kg class with 376kg, while Aaliyah Portales and Lauren Pimentel were runners-up in the 56kg and 67.5kg classes. Gabriella Munoz added a runner-up finish at 82.5kg with a total of 515kg. In the final three classes, Kennedi Butcher was 2nd at 90kg with a total of 517.5, Jiselle Olivarez was 2nd at 100kg with a total of 525.5kg, and Karson Oliver won the 100+kg class with a total of 607.5
In the raw division, Jennifer Benavidez, Savannah Williams, Aaliyah Henry, and Lagi Marina AhSang showcased their strength. Benavidez and Williams secured runner-up finishes in the 67.5kg and 90kg divisions, while Henry placed second in the 100kg class. AhSang clinched a national title in the 100+kg class, lifting 572.5kg.
Midland's equipped team totaled 72 points, outperforming the University of Texas-San Antonio by 9 points. In the raw division, Midland's team totaled 61 points, edging out UTSA by 6 points.
