Warriors’ Young Lifters Compete at Home Open
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University played host to the freshman-only Warrior Open this past weekend inside Hopkins Arena. The Warriors demonstrated their strength by clinching the coed-equipped team title. The coed-raw team standings saw Midland finish in second place, with Blue Mountain Christian University seizing the top spot with a score of 117 to Midland's 90.
In the women's equipped division, the Warriors claimed five first-place finishes. Lily Falcone emerged victorious in the 48kg class, lifting a total of 360kg. Taryn Brunet triumphed in the 56kg class with a total of 385kg, while Jozannah Rodriguez secured first place in the 60kg class with a total of 420kg. Jiselle Olivarez was the top lifter in the 100kg class, with a total of 540kg, and Karson Oliver was tops in the 100+ kg division, with a total of 552.5kg.
Niquela Vallejos was the lone class winner for the Warriors in the women's equipped division, showcasing her strength with a total of 315kg in the 52kg class.
Midland will get a well-deserved break until the second semester when they begin preparing for the 2024 USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia, scheduled for April 11-14, 2024.
