Warriors Dominate Competition at Central Regional

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University had a dominant outing at the Central Collegiate Regional Championships over the weekend. The Warriors dominated the women's meet, securing first place in both the equipped and raw events with perfect scores of 60.

Alexis Iglesias emerged victorious in the 44kg division, with an impressive total of 324.5kg. Sally Green dominated the 52kg division, lifting a total of 362.5kg. Aaliyah Portales claimed the top spot in the 56kg division, recording a total of 465kg. Stephanny Sabril exhibited excellence in the 60kg division, securing the top spot with a total lift of 427.5kg.

Lauren Pimentel emerged triumphant in the 67.5kg division, hoisting an impressive 500kg. Kennedi Butcher dominated the 90kg division with a total of 520kg. Karina Medina rounded out the individual victories, conquering the 100kg division with a solid total of 452.5kg.

Midland University's exceptional performance in the women's powerlifting meet extended to the raw division, where they continued to dominate with outstanding individual achievements.

Jennifer Benevides secured victory in the 67.5kg category, showcasing her strength with a total of 465kg. Maci Avila triumphed in the 75kg division, lifting 457.5kg. Savannah Williams was victorious in the 82.5kg division, recording a total of 455kg.

Jaileigh Sorgenfrei claimed the top spot in the 90kg division, with a total lift of 430kg. Aaliyah Henry dominated the 100kg division, with an impressive total of 517.5kg. Lagi Marina Ahsang rounded out the raw division winners, with the top spot in the 100+ division with a total of 597.5kg.

Midland University's impeccable performance across both equipped and raw divisions solidified its position as the powerhouse in women's powerlifting, with a perfect team score of 60 in each category and a collection of stellar individual victories.

Aaliyah Portales was named the lifter of the meet for the women's equipped meet while Jennifer Benevidez was named the top lifter for the women's raw meet.

The Warriors' sweep of the team and individual awards showcase the dominance they have had in the sport over the past few seasons. Next up for Midland will be the Warrior Collegiate Open on Saturday, December 9. Lifting will get underway at 10:00 a.m. inside Hopkins Arena in Fremont.
