Warriors Earns AVCA Team Academic Award for 14th Straight Year
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently announced the recipients of the 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award, and Midland University's women's volleyball team has once again been recognized for its excellence in the classroom. The Warriors earned the prestigious honor for the 14th consecutive season, continuing a tradition of academic success that complements their on-court achievements.
The AVCA Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT, is presented to collegiate and high school programs that maintain a year-long team grade-point average (GPA) of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale. A record 1,450 programs earned the award this year, highlighting the ongoing commitment of coaches and student-athletes to high academic standards.
"It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the 2024-25 season have extended to the classroom," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes."
Midland's streak of 14 straight awards stands among the longest in the NAIA and reinforces the program's mission of developing well-rounded student-athletes. The Warriors were one of several NAIA teams honored this season, joining elite academic company across all levels of collegiate volleyball.
The AVCA also recognized programs with extended streaks and announced the inaugural Team Academic Champions, awarded to the programs with the highest GPA in each division. While Midland was not named to the Honor Roll or champion list, the Warriors' consistent performance remains a point of pride for the university and athletic department.
