Warriors Earn All-GPAC Volleyball Honors
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Volleyball All-Conference Teams have been announced by the league office along with this year's conference awards. Midland University is represented by four athletes on this year's list with a first-team selection, a second-team selection, and two honorable mentions.
Abbey Ringler, a junior from Seward, Nebraska, was named to the All-GPAC First Team while Jacki Apel, a junior from Bellevue, Nebraska, was named to the All-GPAC Second Team. Lauryn Samuelson (Sr., Oxford, Neb.) and Lauren Williams (So., Council Bluffs, Iowa) were both named All-GPAC Honorable Mentions.
"I'm proud of how our team has continued to improve all season and it's great that Abbey, Lauryn, Jacki, and Lauren have been recognized by the other conference coaches for their efforts to help the team," said head coach Paul Giesselmann. "Each of them has had big matches during the year and I think each of them would say that it's about the team and not an individual. Which is why these four are solid players and our team is going to nationals again."
The Warriors finished in fourth place in the GPAC and are currently ranked No. 15 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll. Midland will host Kansas Wesleyan in the NAIA Opening Round this coming Saturday. First serve of the national tournament match is set for 1:00 p.m. inside the Wikert Event Center in Fremont.
