Diew Earns All-America Honor in Season Finale

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Midland University concluded its outdoor season over the weekend at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Asheville, North Carolina. The Warriors had a pair of individual athletes competing in a combined three events, as well as a relay team. The meet featured more than 100 teams from across the country.

Competing in the discus throw, Sara Diew placed sixth with a mark of 45.88 meters, earning her first All-American honor as a Warrior. She also turned in a strong performance in the hammer throw, finishing 20th with a mark of 49.03 meters.

Krista Hardy placed 13th in the high jump with a clearance of 1.62 meters.

As a quartet, Caelianna Risler, Tanja Zubrod, Aurora Griffin, and Amber van Beugen finished 23rd in the 4x100-meter relay prelims with a time of 47.27 seconds.

"Every athlete and relay finished higher than they were seeded, which speaks to how well they competed," said head coach Daniel Gerber. "Having Sara finish her career as an All-American was a great way to wrap up the season."

The University of British Columbia won the women's title with a total of 101.5 points. Next closest was the University of Cumberlands with 52, followed by Dickinson State University with 40. Midland tied for 60th with three points.
