Warriors Send Athletes to Prairie Wolf Invite and Drake Relays

LINCOLN, Neb. – Midland University's women's track and field team posted several top-10 finishes at the Prairie Wolf Outdoor Invite on Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska, while two athletes represented the Warriors at the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

At the Prairie Wolf Outdoor Invite, Aurora Griffin had a pair of strong sprint finishes, placing eighth in the 100-meter dash (13.04) and sixth in the 200 meters (26.83). Teammate Rianna Greene finished ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.18. In the 400 meters, Neveah Sarabia crossed the line in eighth place, clocking a time of 1:02.54.

In distance action, Madison Bergstrom earned a sixth-place finish in the 5000 meters, running 20:39.31.

In the jumps, Krista Hardy cleared 1.58 meters to finish fourth in the high jump. Vanessa Rice placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.93 meters, and added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 10.22 meters. Hardy also competed in the triple jump, finishing seventh (9.86 meters), just ahead of Madelynn Dougherty, who took eighth (9.76 meters).

Midland's throwers also performed well. Maggie Heesch led the group with a third-place finish in the hammer throw, posting a mark of 48.78 meters. She added a sixth-place finish in both the shot put (12.79 meters) and the javelin (36.57 meters). Sara Diew also turned in a strong showing, placing seventh in the discus with a throw of 39.86 meters.

Meanwhile, at the Drake Relays, Kerrigan Myers competed in the 100-meter hurdles and placed 11th overall with a time of 13.92 seconds, achieving an NAIA "A" Standard. In the high jump, Hannah Newton cleared 1.61 meters to finish 16th among a highly competitive field.

Next week, Midland will send a group of athletes to the 2025 Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships. The conference meet is scheduled for Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3, in Hastings, Nebraska.
