Warriors Post Strong Performances Over the Weekend
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University had athletes competing in three different meets: the Friends Spring Invitational in Wichita, Kansas, the USD Early Bird in Vermillion, South Dakota, and the Concordia Outdoor Invitational in Seward, Nebraska. The Warriors posted several strong performances across these competitions.
At the Friends Spring Invitational, Kerrigan Myers had a standout weekend, earning first place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.86, which met the NAIA A standard. Myers also excelled in the heptathlon, winning first place with a total of 4510 points. Hannah Newton had a solid showing in multiple events, finishing third in the high jump with a height of 1.61m and securing fifth place in the heptathlon with 3178 points. Krista Hardy also performed well, earning fifth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.56m and placing tenth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.46m. Dala Drowne rounded out the high jump competition, finishing tenth with a clearance of 1.46m.
At the USD Early Bird, Joy Jepkorir ran a strong 10,000m race, taking fourth place with a time of 42:40.08. Madison Bergstrom followed in sixth place with a time of 45:42.95.
Meanwhile, at the Concordia Outdoor Invitational, Maggie Heesch had an impressive showing in the throws, earning second place in both the discus with a throw of 39.55m and the hammer with a toss of 47.33m. Heesch also placed third in the shot put with a throw of 12.86m. Sara Diew added to the Warriors' success in the discus, finishing ninth with a throw of 33.91m.
Midland will see its team come together next week at the South Dakota Challenge. The one-day meet is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 in Vermillion, S.D.
