Several Warriors Record Season Bests at Dutcher Classic
CRETE, Neb. – Midland University had a busy week on the track and in the field as it sent athletes to the Kansas Relays and the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic.
At the Kansas Relays on Thursday, Myia Johnson came away with her top time of the season in the 5000m at 18:53.32, securing the 23rd spot in a competitive field. In the 800m race, Nevaeh Sarabia placed 25th with a time of 2:27.78.
Transitioning to the Dutcher Classic over the weekend, Midland athletes continued to shine with several season-best marks on the track and in the field. Neenah Guerrero had season-best performances in both the 100m and 200m races, securing the 6th spot in each event with times of 12.68 and 26.69 respectively. Magdalena De La O ran a solid race in the 5000m, claiming 6th place with a season-best time of 21:05.19.
The Warriors excelled in the hurdles, with Madyson Ray taking 3rd place in the 100m hurdles with a season-best time of 16.63, while Shyanne Pipkin secured 8th place with a season-best time of 19.65.
In the field events, Krista Hardy achieved a season-best performance and met the NAIA A Standard in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.68m. Guerrero continued her success, earning 2nd place in the long jump with a season-best distance of 5.39m. Pipkin was 5th in the javelin, recording a best throw of 34.89m.
Maggie Heesch displayed her versatility with impressive performances across multiple throwing events. She achieved a season-best toss of 13.30m in the shot put, securing 4th place with an NAIA B Standard. Heesch also claimed 9th place in the discus with a distance of 38.37m and clinched 3rd place in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.66m.

With the regular season winding down, Midland will look to make further strides next week at the Prairie Wolf Invite. The meet, which takes place on Thursday, April 25 in Lincoln, is the final meet before the GPAC Outdoor Championships the first weekend in May.
