Warriors Have Field Day at Duncan Invite

DES MOINES, Iowa – Midland University was in action on Friday at the 47th Annual Jim Duncan Invitational hosted by Drake University. The Warriors had a strong showing in the field events with seven top ten performances.

Among the highlights was the high jump where three Midland athletes secured spots among the top ten finishers. Krista Hardy led the charge, claiming 3rd with a clearance of 1.60 meters. Following closely behind was Dala Drowne, who secured 5th with a height of 1.55 meters. Shyanne Pipkin rounded off the trio's success, clinching 10th with a jump of 1.50 meters.

Pipkin's versatility was further displayed as she secured 6th in the javelin with an impressive throw covering a distance of 33.49 meters.

In the long jump, Madyson Ray reached 10th with a new season-best of 4.98 meters.

Meanwhile, Maggie Heesch proved to be a consistent performer for Midland, securing two top-ten finishes. Heesch made her mark in the shot put event, claiming 8th with a season-best throw of 13.21 meters. In the hammer throw, she secured 5th with a distance of 49.24 meters.

With the regular season nearing its finish line, Midland will be back in action next weekend at the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic. The two-day meet will take place on April 19-20 in Crete, Nebraska on the campus of Doane University.
