Warriors Travel to Prairie Wolf Invite; Conference Meet on Deck

LINCOLN, Neb. – It was the final weekend of the regular season for Midland University and others from across the NAIA. The Warriors sent a select number of athletes to the Prairie Wolf Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska as they looked to improve their marks heading into the conference championships next week.

The Warriors had a pair of runners competing in the 1500m. Myia Johnson placed 20th with a time of 5:27.07 while Darby Walsh turned in a season-best time of 6:06.65 to place 35th.

Midland took part in both relay events, finishing 2nd in the 400m and 4th in the 1600m. The 400m relay team of Amber Rodgers, Emma Strom, Hannah Meyer, and Nevaeh Sarabia finished with a time of 50.83. Sarabia and Rodger joined the duo of Madyson Ray and Krista Hardy in the 1600m relay, running a time of 4:22.97.

Hardy and Rodgers also competed in the high jump. Hardy was 4th with a season-best height of 1.56m while Rodgers finished 7th with a clearing of 1.46m. Teammate Shyanne Pipkin also placed in the event with a clearing of 1.46m, taking 9th by way of total misses.

In the pole vault, Meyer was able to get over the bar at 2.73m to take 16th place and set a new season high. She also competed in the triple jump, taking 3rd with a distance of 10.49m.

Over in the long jump, Ray and Strom placed 10th and 11th. Ray had a best jump of 4.92m while Strom reached 4.68m.

Madisyn Kelsey and Emmalee Bartak threw the shot put and hammer at the meet. In the shot, Kelsey placed 17th with a 10.88m throw and Bartak was 23rd with a 10.10m. In the hammer, Kelsey had a best toss of 39.39m to finish 15th while Bartak had a throw of 36.79 to place 19th.

Ray completed her day with a 7th-place finish in the javelin. She had a season-best throw of 33.25m.

Midland will now turn its attention toward final preparations for the GPAC Championships. The two-day meet is set to be held on May 5-6. Dordt University will serve as the host school in Sioux Center, Iowa.
