Warriors Take Part in Dutcher Memorial and Red Raider Open

CRETE, Neb. – Midland University sent athletes to the Jim Dutcher Memorial and to the Red Raider Open this week as the schedules for both meets were affected by cooler temperatures in the region. The Dutcher Memorial in Crete, Nebraska was shifted to a final day of Sunday while the Raider Open was completed on Saturday in Orange City, Iowa.

DUTCHER MEMORIAL

On the track, the Warriors had competitors in three races on Sunday. In the 100m, Emma Strom placed 11th with a time of 13.04. Three Midland runners competed in the 200m. Strom had the top time of the trio, placing 9th with a 26.79. Nevaeh Sarabia was 20th with a 27.35 and Amber Rodgers was 29th with a 28.32. In the 400m race, Sarabia placed 11th with a time of 1:00.98 while Rodgers came in 22nd with a 1:06.03.

In the high jump, Tiffani Peitz was the lone Warrior. She placed 14th with a height of 1.45m.

Madalyn Kelsey competed in a pair of throwing events. She took 25th in the shot put with a toss of 10.28m and was 31st in the hammer throw, turning in a best throw of 34.61.

RAIDER OPEN

Madyson Ray and Shyanne Pipkin ventured up to Orange City to compete in the women's heptathlon. Ray compiled a score of 3398 points, placing 4th, while Pipkin finished with a score of 2783, coming in 8th.

Midland will begin prepping for the final stretch of its season. The next event on its schedule is the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships set to take place on May 5-6 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
