Warriors Compete in Weather Limited Concordia Invite

SEWARD, Neb. – Midland University sent a small contingency of athletes to compete in the Concordia Outdoor Invitational this weekend. With a storm forecasted to roll through on Saturday, during the majority of the meet, the schedule was shortened considerably with only field events and the race walk being held.

On the track, Darbi Walsh placed 4th in the women's 5000-meter race walk. She turned in a time of 33:28.57 which would rank her 18th in the NAIA this season.

In the high jump, Midland had four athletes in the field. Amber Rodgers had a height of 1.40m to place 20th. Both Madyson Ray and Shyanne Pipkin cleared a height of 1.45m. Ray was given 15th by the judge's decision while Pipkin finished 12th. Leading the way for the Warriors was Krista Hardy with a height of 1.55m. She placed 4th in the field of 29 jumpers.

Ray also competed in the long jump alongside teammate Emma Strom. Ray had a best leap of 4.91m to place 14th while Strom finished 7th with a distance of 5.17m.

Emmalee Bartak was the lone Warrior in both the hammer throw and shot put. She placed 34th in the hammer with a best throw of 30.16m and was 21st in the shot put with a best of 8.88m.

In the javelin, Pipkin took to the runway and turned in a best throw of 27.48. She placed 20th in the event.

Midland has one more meet on its schedule before the start of the postseason. They'll travel to compete in the Jim Dutcher Memorial Invitational in Crete, Nebraska next weekend. The 2023 GPAC Outdoor Championships will be held on May 5-6 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
