Warriors Continue Season at Wildcat Invite
WAYNE, Neb. – Midland University was back in action Friday, traveling north to compete at the Wildcat Indoor Invitational hosted by Wayne State College. Competing inside the Wildcat Dome, several Warriors posted season-best marks while facing strong regional competition.
On the track, Tanja Zubrod placed sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.79 and also ran the leadoff leg of the 4x400-meter relay. Along with Maria Sander, Amber van Beugen, and Meike Lahuis, the relay team finished third with a time of 4:03.33.
Three Warriors earned top-10 finishes in the 3,000 meters. Maddie Bergstrom led the group, placing sixth with a time of 11:07.57, followed by Bridget Meier in eighth (11:28.65) and Judith Chepkorir in ninth (11:33.87).
In the field events, Krista Hardy and Lahuis both placed in the top five of the high jump. Hardy cleared 1.62 meters to place second via judges' decision, while Lahuis reached 1.57 meters to tie for fifth.
The long jump saw Vanessa Rice place sixth with a leap of 5.21 meters.
Sara Diew turned in a strong day with a pair of top-10 finishes. She placed 10th in the shot put with a throw of 11.81 meters and finished fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 16.79 meters. Her effort in the latter met the NAIA B standard, while her shot put mark was a personal best.
