Warriors Record Multiple Top Finishes at Concordia Classic
SEWARD, Neb. — Midland University was back in action Friday and Saturday at the Concordia Classic in Seward. The meet, hosted by Concordia University in the Walz Fieldhouse, featured 15 schools, including Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) members Briar Cliff, College of Saint Mary, Concordia, Dakota Wesleyan, Doane, Hastings, Morningside, Mount Marty and Northwestern.
Shyanne Pipkin recorded two top-five performances Friday afternoon, placing fifth in the pentathlon high jump (1.46 meters) and fifth in the pentathlon shot put (9.65 meters). She finished eighth overall in the pentathlon.
In the weight throw, Sara Diew placed fifth with a mark of 16.12 meters.
In the 60-meter preliminaries, Maria Sander finished 10th with a time of 8.03 seconds. Just behind her, Tanja Zubrod placed 11th in 8.06, moving her into eighth all-time in Midland program history.
Krista Hardy followed up her first-place finish last week in the high jump with another standout performance Saturday, securing second with a jump of 1.61 meters.
In the 5,000-meter run, Maite Farin finished third in 19:28.50, while Bridget Meier placed fifth in 20:14.69. Farin's performance ranks her eighth all-time in Midland program history for the event.
In the 400-meter, Tanja Zubrod finished seventh in 59.62 seconds, and Maria Sander was 15th in 1:02.06. Zubrod's run moves her to fourth all-time in program history.
The Warriors will travel to Wayne, Nebraska, on Friday, Feb. 6, to compete in the Wildcat Classic. Start time for the meet is to be announced.
