Warriors Continue Season at Cyclone Open; Hardy Places First

AMES, Iowa — Midland University continued its season Friday at the Cyclone Open in Ames, Iowa. The meet, hosted by Iowa State University, included teams from NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as the NAIA and junior colleges.

Sara Diew kicked off the meet for the Warriors by competing in the weight throw, placing eighth with a throw of 13.82 meters.

Three Warriors competed in the long jump. Vanessa Rice (4.72 meters), Farrah Wilson (4.67), and Josie Reiff (4.57) placed 10th, 11th, and 12th, respectively.

In the 60-meter dash, Maria Sanders finished 13th with a time of 8.10 seconds. Just behind her, Tanja Zubrod placed 14th at 8.11.

Leading the field in the high jump, Krista Hardy secured a share of first place with a jump of 1.63 meters.

Recording her second top-10 finish of the day, Diew placed 10th in the shot put with a throw of 11.14 meters.

In the 200-meter dash, Zubrod recorded a third-place finish with a time of 25.96 seconds.

Midland will travel to Seward, Nebraska, for the Concordia Classic on Jan. 30-31.
