Warriors Shine at Coach Richard Alsup Open with Strong Individual Performances

MARYVILLE, Mo. — Midland University was back in action Saturday, joining athletes from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois and Oklahoma at the Coach Richard Alsup Open in Maryville, Missouri. The meet was hosted on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University inside Hughes Fieldhouse.

In the 200-meter race, Tanja Zubrod (26.20) and Rianna Greene (26.66) finished 12th and 15th, respectively.

In the 1-mile run, Maite Farin finished 15th with a time of 5:45.57.

Maddie Bergstrom recorded a top-10 finish in the 5,000-meter run, placing 10th with a time of 19:30.60.

Midland had two top-10 finishes in the high jump. Krista Hardy led the Warriors with a second-place jump of 1.60 meters, while Meike Lahuis finished ninth at 1.50 meters.

Vanessa Rice placed 15th in the long jump with a leap of 5.08 meters and added a strong 10th-place finish in the triple jump at 10.66 meters. Farrah Wilson also competed in the triple jump, placing 15th with a jump of 9.99 meters.

The Warriors will return to action next Friday when they travel to Ames, Iowa, for the Cyclone Open, hosted by Iowa State. Start time for the meet is TBA.
