Midland Posts Multiple Personal Bests at Concordia Early Bird Meet

SEWARD, Neb. — Midland University continued its 2025 season Friday and Saturday at the Concordia Early Bird meet in Seward, Nebraska. Several Warriors had standout performances and personal bests at the meet, which featured 15 teams, including four Great Plains Athletic Conference schools.

In the 200-meter race, Rianna Greene (26.54) and Kayli Carey (28.34) both recorded personal best times. Greene's performance ranks seventh in Midland school history in the 200-meter event.

The lone Warrior in the 600-meter event, Carly Carstens, secured fifth place with a personal best time of 1:48.75, placing her ninth in school history for the event.

Three Midland athletes posted top-10 finishes in the 1,000-meter race. Carstens led the way with a personal best of 3:23.64, finishing fourth, while Bridget Meier (3:34.16) and Delanie Tally (3:43.37) finished eighth and tenth, respectively.

In the 1-mile event, all five Warrior runners finished in the top 10. Maddie Bergstrom paced the field, finishing second with a personal best of 5:57.14. Meier finished third at 6:01.96, Judy Chepkorir was fifth (6:04.13), Danika Leuenberger posted a personal best of 6:09.40 for seventh place, and Belinda Jepkemboi rounded out Midland runners with a 10th-place finish (6:52.66).

Krista Hardy led the high jump competition with a season-best height of 1.61 meters. Meike Lahuis finished seventh with a jump of 1.46 meters.

Vanessa Rice placed 10th in the long jump with a distance of 5.25 meters, while Farrah Wilson (4.68 meters) and Josie Reiff (4.55 meters) recorded personal bests. In the triple jump, Rice secured a season-best mark of 10.74 meters.

Sara Diew led the weight throw competition, finishing first with a throw of 17.56 meters.

In the 4x400 relay, Rianna Greene, Vanessa Rice, Caelianna Risler, and Meike Lahuis placed fourth with a time of 4:23.64.

Midland will begin the 2026 season traveling to Sioux Center, Iowa, for the Dordt Open on Jan. 10. The meet is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.
