Indoor Season Begins for Warriors at Tjeerdsma Classic

MARYVILLE, Mo — Midland University opened its indoor track and field campaign at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic in Maryville, Missouri, on Saturday. The Warriors competed in several events against teams from the region at varying levels, from NCAA Division II to NJCAA.

Midland had a handful of top ten places, including Tanja Zubrod, who placed eighth in the 200-meter race with a time of 25.80. Her time moves her into second all-time in the school's history.

There was a trio of Warriors in the top ten of the 3000-meter race. Bridget Meier (11:50.10, 8th) led the way while Judith Chepkorir (12:28.56, 9th) and Belinda Jepkempboi (12:58.50, 10th) were close behind.

In the field events, Krista Hardy finished 4th in the high jump with a height of 1.61 meters. Farrah Wilson (10.77m) and Vanessa Rice (10.70m) competed in the triple jump event and finished in 7th and 9th place, respectively.

Sara Diew made her 2025 debut with a strong performance in the weight throw event, finishing 2nd overall with a distance of 16.95m. That moves her up to 4th in the program record book indoors.

Up next, Midland will travel to Seward, Nebraska, on December 12-13 to compete in the Concordia Early Bird.
