Warriors Shut Out by Morningside
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Midland University closed out the regular season Saturday with a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) road match at Morningside University, where the Mustangs defeated the Warriors, 7-0.
Morningside secured the early advantage by sweeping doubles play. At No. 1, Line Jensen and Brooke Marshall topped Graziela Dallagnol and Ai Katsura, 6-0, while Helene Kreibich and Lara Heinrich earned a 6-1 win over Lillie Johnston and Andrea Vasquez at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles position was uncontested.
The Mustangs carried that momentum into singles, winning all five contested matches in straight sets. Jensen led the way with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Katsura at No. 1, and Heinrich followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Vasquez at No. 2. Marshall added a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Dallagnol at No. 3.
Kreibich posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 4 against Ana Larreal, while Kailee Bailey matched that result with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Johnston at No. 5. The No. 6 singles match went unplayed.
With the result, Midland concludes its regular season and will now turn its attention to postseason play in the GPAC Tournament.
