Warriors Secure GPAC Win Over Concordia

SEWARD, Neb. – In a highly contested Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) dual, Midland University faced Concordia University on Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors were challenged on the courts by the Bulldogs but were able to keep their conference record unblemished with a 4-3 victory.

Despite dropping a close match at No. 1 singles, the Warriors rallied and clinched the victory by securing the final two doubles matches, earning the crucial team point.

Kissmel Cedano Lapaix and Grace Felder teamed up at No. 2 doubles, securing a 6-2 victory over Tessa Blough and Chakira Derman. Meanwhile, Jeena Carle and Macee Thompson closed out the team point at No. 3 doubles, defeating Alexa Richert and Lauren Gottberg by a score of 6-2.

In singles play, the teams split the six matches. The Warriors emerged victorious at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 singles, while the Bulldogs claimed victories in the remaining matchups.

Graziela Dallagnol delivered a stellar performance at No. 3 singles, defeating Alana Lopez Pagan in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). Elaina Fanton followed suit with a win at No. 4 singles over Blough (6-2, 6-4).

Jeena Carle sealed the important conference win for the Warriors with a commanding win at No. 6 singles over Brooke Hosick (6-0, 6-2).

Midland (11-5, 5-0 GPAC) will be back on the courts this weekend when it hosts Doane (8-12, 1-4 GPAC). First serve of the GPAC dual is slated for 12:00 p.m. at the Fremont H.S. Tennis Courts on Saturday, April 20 in Fremont.
