Warriors Earn Sweep of Hastings on the Road

HASTINGS, Neb. – Midland University continued its stretch of road duals on Wednesday as it traveled to take on Hastings College in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) contest. The Warriors were dominant on the courts inside the Physical Fitness Facility, winning 7-0 over the Broncos.

The Warriors asserted their dominance early by securing all three doubles matches to claim the initial team point. Leading the charge, Ari Lumanog and Elaina Fanton, playing at No. 1s, outlasted Josline Carter and Victoria Harris in a tight match, clinching a 7-5 victory. Kissmel Cedano Lapaix and Graziela Dallagnol commanded the court at No. 2s, overwhelming Sasha Richards and Paige Willcoxon with a decisive 6-1 win. Meanwhile, Macee Thompson and Jeena Carle showcased their teamwork, cruising to a 6-1 triumph against Abby Harveson and Amanda Skinner at No. 3s.

In singles action, Midland's dominance remained unwavering. Lumanog exhibited a masterclass performance at No. 1s, dispatching Richards with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory. Fanton continued the winning streak at No. 2s, overcoming Carter with a 6-2, 7-5 scoreline. Dallagnol maintained the momentum at No. 3s, securing a straight-sets win over Harris (6-3, 6-2). Carle followed suit with a convincing victory over Willcoxon at No. 4s (6-3, 6-2), while Thompson showcased her skill by defeating Skinner at No. 5s with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 performance. Krystal Olson capped off the sweeping victory at No. 6s, overpowering Harveson with a solid 6-1, 6-0 win.

Midland (9-4, 3-0 GPAC) will return to its home courts this weekend when it hosts Northwestern (7-4, 0-0 GPAC) in another conference tilt. The teams are scheduled to take the courts at the Fremont High tennis facility at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6 in Fremont.
