Warriors Take Down Concordia in Nonconference Dual

FREMONT, Neb. – In a non-conference dual match, Midland University met up with Concordia University on Saturday at the Fremont Family YMCA. The Warriors dominated the doubles matches, sweeping all three for the team points. They followed it up with four wins in singles for the 5-2 victory.

Ari Lumanog and Elaina Fanton secured a 6-1 victory over Tessa Blough and Chakira Derman at the No. 1 spot. Kissmel Cedano Lapaix and Grace Felder claimed victory at No. 2 with a score of 6-4 against Mariana Melano and Alana Lopez Pagan. Macee Thompson and Jeena Carle secured the third doubles win at No. 3, triumphing 6-3 over Brooke Hosick and Lauren Gottberg.

In singles play, the Warriors continued their strong performance, winning four out of six matches. Graziela Dallagnol triumphed in a hard-fought battle at No. 3, defeating Blough with a score of 6-7, 6-2, 10-7. Grace Felder secured another point for Midland at No. 4, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 against Lopez Pagan. Jeena Carle continued the winning streak at No. 5, defeating Alexa Richert with a score of 6-1, 6-3. Macee Thompson sealed the victory for Midland at No. 6, winning convincingly in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 against Gabrielle Heiser.

Midland (7-3) will be back in action next weekend with a nonconference dual at William Woods. The Warriors will travel to Fulton, Missouri to face the Owls at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 24.
