Warriors Earn Pair of Wins; Extend Winning Streak
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University picked up a pair of victories against the University of Minnesota Morris and the College of Saint Mary over the weekend to run its winning streak to four duals. On Sunday, the Warriors triumphed over the University of Minnesota Morris with a resounding 7-0 victory, followed by a 6-1 win against the College of Saint Mary on Monday in Great Plains Athletics Conference (GPAC) action.

In the matchup against Minnesota Morris, the Warriors asserted their dominance in doubles play by not conceding a single point, winning each pairing 6-0 against the Cougars. At the No. 1 position, Ari Lumanog and Elaina Fanton secured a victory over Marybeth Tautges and Katharine Kelm. The No. 2 position witnessed Kissmel Cedano Lapaix and Grace Felder defeating Mariah Mireles and Ava Weber. At the No. 3 spot, Macee Thompson and Jeena Carle emerged victorious against Jhazlyn Wynne and Mac Sejba-Walters.
Singles play saw Graziela Dallagnol claim a convincing victory at No. 1s, defeating Kiley Rodarmel (6-1, 6-2). Felder continued her winning streak at No. 2s, overcoming Valerie Gall (6-3, 6-1). Carle displayed skill and precision at No. 3s, securing a win against Allison Bruhn (6-2, 6-2). Krystal Olson dominated at No. 4s, triumphing over Katharine Kelm (6-1, 6-0). Thompson and Abbie Johnson showcased exceptional performances at No. 5s and No. 6s, respectively, both securing victories without dropping a set.
MONDAY: Midland 6, College of Saint Mary 1
In the first dual of conference action, the Warriors faced stiff competition in the College of Saint Mary. The Flames won a tight contest at No. 1 doubles but the Warriors claimed the doubles' point by winning the other two pairings. At No. 2s, Cedano Lapaix and Felder defeated Carolyna Truong and Miranda Swanson (6-4), while Thompson and Carle beat Blake McDowall and Darece Van Auken at No. 3s (6-1).
In singles play, the Flames secured a win at No. 1s for their lone team point. However, Midland responded emphatically by winning the final five matchups, all in straight sets. Fanton, Dallagnol, Felder, Carle, and Olson each contributed to the team's success at the No. 2 to No. 6 positions, respectively, demonstrating Midland's depth and skill on the court.
Midland (4-1, 1-0 GPAC) will return to action this coming weekend in Kansas. The Warriors will take on Bethel College on Friday in North Newton and then face McPherson College on Saturday in McPherson.
