Warriors Begin Spring Season at Nebraska-Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – In one of its earliest starts to a spring schedule in recent years, Midland University took to the tennis courts inside the Miracle Hills Tennis Center on Saturday against the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Facing a talented NCAA team, the Warriors fell to the Mavericks, 7-0.

DOUBLES

Omaha swept all three doubles matches. At No. 1s, Ari Lumanog and Jenna Carle fell to Colby Kelley and Keegan VanPelt, 6-2. The familiar duo of Elaina Fanton and Grace Felder dropped their battle at No. 2s, 6-4, to Khayli Buckels and Addison Miller. At No. 3s, it was Summer Shannon and Lillian Tiemeyer winning 6-1 over Abigail Johnson and Krystal Olson.

SINGLES

The Mavericks swept past the Warriors in straight sets at each singles position. Fanton lost 6-2, 6-1 to Paula Arcarons. Lumanog fell to Buckels, 7-6 and 6-4 at No. 2s. Felder was bested by VanPelt at No. 3s., 6-1 and 6-3.

Carle was held in check by Miller at No. 4s (6-0, 6-0) while Olson met a similar fate to Tiemeyer at No. 5s (6-0, 6-0). Johnson avoided a shutout to Shannon at No. 6s (6-1, 6-0).

Midland (0-1) will have a quick turnaround with a non-conference dual against Mount Marty next Saturday along with the men's team. Action is set to get underway at noon in Yankton, South Dakota.
