Warriors Dominate All-GPAC Honors; Campos Named Co-Coach of the Year
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the Women's Tennis All-Conference selections for 2023. Seven athletes from Midland University earned All-GPAC honors while head coach Bruno Campos was named Co-Coach of the Year along with Alex Struck from Morningside University. Renee Acena from the College of Saint Mary was named the GPAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year.
The Warriors' singles lineup of No. 1 Ari Lumanog, No. 2 Kristina Khmelevskaia, No. 3 Ivett Castaneda, No. 4 Graziela Dallagnol, No. 5 Grace Felder, and No. 6 Lainie Fanton were all recognized by the conference coaches. In doubles, No. 1s Lumanog and Dallagnol as well as No. 2s Khmelevskaia and Castaneda were named all-conference while the duo of Macee Thompson and Felder were honorable mentions.
This season, Midland swept its way to a regular season championship by going 7-0 in GPAC duals. In the conference tournament, they earned the championship banner for the second straight season. The Warriors, who earned the GPAC's automatic bid, will represent the conference at the NAIA Championship next week down in Mobile, Alabama. Play begins for the women at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16 at the Mobile Tennis Center.
