(RV) Warriors Whip Doane; Eye Conference Title

CRETE, Neb. - (RV) Midland University traveled to Doane University as both teams were vying for a chance at the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) regular season title. The defending GPAC Champions gave up one point to their opponents before defeating the Tigers 6-1 and taking one step closer to keeping the title. Midland stays undefeated in the GPAC at 6-0 and 15-3 overall as Doane suffers their second straight loss dropping to 5-2 in the conference and 9-13 overall.  

No. 2s Kristina Khmelevskaia and Ivett Castaneda started the Warriors' run with a doubles set win over Ava Macke and Liz van der Torre (6-2). No. 3s Grace Felder and Macee Thompson nabbed the doubles point defeating Kailyn Groski and Grace Schroller (6-3) with No.1s Ari Lumanog and Graziela Dallagnol completing the sweep with a 6-2 win over Ashlyn Kucera and Nina Ngo.  

Lumanog finished her opponent Macke 6-4, 6-3 claiming her sixth win of the season in the No. 1 slot. No. 3 Castaneda silenced the Tigers with a third straight point defeating Kucera 6-3, 6-1, and clinching her eleventh win of this year. No. 2 Khmelevskaia clinched the team win beating Torre 6-4, 6-4 helping the Warriors stay undefeated in the conference.  

No. 5 Felder and No. 6 Laine Fanton only gave up two games apiece as they flatlined their opponents in straight sets. Felder defeated Groski 6-0, 6-2 with Fanton winning 6-2, 6-0 over Schroller.  

Midland (15-3, 6-0 GPAC) hosts Morningside (15-4, 5-0 GPAC) for a chance to clinch the regular season conference title for the second year in a row. The face-off is set to start at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 24 inside the Fremont Family YMCA.
