(RV) Warriors Leash Concordia at Home
FREMONT, Neb. - Midland University came back home for its match against Concordia University at the Fremont YMCA on Friday afternoon. The Warriors controlled the Bulldogs from the start taking the win 6-1 in their fourth conference matchup. Midland stays undefeated at 4-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and moves to 13-3 for its overall record. Concordia steps down to 2-3 in the conference and 10-8 on the season.
Ari Lumanog and Graziela Dallagnol at No. 1s started the Warriors off on the right foot defeating Tessa Blough and Alana Lopez Pagan 6-3 in their doubles set. No. 2s Ivett Castaneda and Kristina Khmelevskaia snatched the win from Ella Dean and Tara Ferrel taking the doubles point 6-4 in favor of Midland.
Khmelevskaia at No. 2 proved to be too much for Blough taking the match 6-0, 6-2 as No. 3 Castaneda defeated Lopez Pagan 6-4, 6-3 improving to 9-2 in singles on the season. No. 4 Dallagnol took the fourth point and the team win in straight sets over Dean 6-4, 6-2 giving the Warriors another victory.
No. 5 Grace Felder rolled over Ferrel with a 6-1, 6-2 win bringing her win total to 11 as No. 6 Fanton kept the steam going, beating Brooke Hosick 6-1, 6-1 matching the same score of the team.
Midland (13-3, 4-0 GPAC) will travel to Hastings (7-7, 1-4 GPAC) this Wednesday, April 19. They are set to start at noon in Hastings, Nebraska as the Warriors look to win their third straight against the Broncos.
