(RV) Warriors Shut Down Red Raiders in GPAC Match
ORANGE CITY, Iowa. – Midland University faced off against conference foe Northwestern College on Friday at the NWC Tennis Courts, having to halt for rain at one point during the dual. The Warriors ran through the Red Raiders by a score of 7-0, collecting another conference win along the way. Midland stays undefeated at 3-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) while improving to 12-3 overall. Northwestern falls to 2-2 in the conference and now has a 7-8 overall record.
No. 1s Ari Lumanog and Graziela Dallagnol stepped on the court with confidence taking the doubles set 6-1 over Julia Kutz and Julia Anderson. No. 3s Grace Felder and Macee Thompson clinched the doubles point with a set win over Ainslie Robinson and Hannah Beckloff (6-2) with No. 2s Ivett Castaneda and Kristina Khmelevskaia winning 6-2 over Olya Furmanova and Wynne Vandersall to sweep the Red Raiders.
Khmelevskaia at No. 2 took the first singles win over Kutz 6-0, 6-4 while No. 3 Castaneda crushed Anderson 6-1, 6-4 to get things going for the Warriors. No. 1 Lumanog continued the onslaught taking Furmanova in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).
No. 4 Dallagnol silenced Vandersall (6-0, 6-1) only giving up one game with No. 5 Felder not wasting time defeating Robinson 6-1, 6-2. Lastly, No. 6 Lainie Fanton left the home team scoreless, defeating Beckloff 6-2, 6-0 in the final match.
Midland (12-3, 3-0 GPAC) will travel back home for a quick turnaround versus Concordia (10-7, 2-2 GPAC) at the Fremont YMCA on Saturday, April 15. First toss will be at 12:00 p.m. with the Warrior women and men facing off against the Bulldogs.
