(RV) Warriors Win Third Straight Match; Shutout Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Neb. – (RV) Midland University traveled to the LSF Sports Complex to face Nebraska Wesleyan University, playing the non-conference foe on Thursday afternoon. The Warriors swept the Prairie Wolves (9-0) to clinch their third win in a row in the matchup (2016, 2021) as well as their third straight since March 18. The win moves Midland to double-digit wins on the season with a 10-2 overall record while Nebraska Wesleyan drops down to 8-4. 

No. 2s Graziela Dallagnol and Ari Lumanog defeated Crystal Craft and Kailey Jay 8-3 sealing the first point for doubles. Ivett Castaneda and Lainie Fanton at No. 1s followed their teammates with a win over Brooke Sailer and Anna Burt 8-3 in their doubles set. Grace Felder and Macee Thompson at No. 3s, took the final point from Ella Ford and Greta Wostoupal (8-5) taking all the doubles points (3-0). 

In singles competition, No. 5 Fanton won with ease over Wostoupal (6-0, 6-2) putting the Warriors in a commanding position to take the match. Felder at No. 4, seized the team win with a victory over Burt taking her in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. 

No. 1 Kristina Khmelevskaia drove past Sailer (6-4, 6-1) as No. 2 Lumanog won with a 2-0 score over Craft in the first set winning the match by injury default. 

Dallagnol at No. 3, kept the W's coming in a three-set battle defeating Ford 4-6, 7-5, 10-2 to move the Warriors at 8-0 in the matchup. No. 6 Krystal Olson kept fighting against Gracy Smith and took the win 1-6, 6-3, 11-9. 

Midland (10-2) will host Grand View (7-3) for its senior day on Saturday, April 7. The match is set to start at 1:00 p.m. at the Fremont High School Tennis Courts. The four seniors honored will be Ivett Castaneda, Kristina Khmelevskaia, Ari Lumanog, and Macee Thompson
