Warriors Pick Up Second Win in GPAC Against Flames
OMAHA, Neb. - Midland University faced off against familiar conference foe College of Saint Mary in their eleventh match of the season. The Warriors kept the Flames at bay winning 6-1, lengthening their win streak to four in the series. Midland is now 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) as CSM drops to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
In doubles play, No. 3s Grace Felder and Macee Thompson swept Jaclyn Negrete and Blake McDowall 6-0 in their set. No. 2s Kristina Khmelevskaia and Ari Lumanog defeated Kaia Chiasson Miranda Swanson 6-1 taking the doubles point from the home team.
No. 4 Graziella Dallagnol finished off Negrete taking the win 6-0, 6-0 against her opposition. Felder at No. 5 and Laine Fanton at No. 6, gave up a game in apiece before winning over Swanson (6-0, 6-1) and Blake McDowall (6-1, 6-0).
Ivett Castaneda at No. 2, continued her winning ways as she improved to 6-1 in singles on the season with a win over Carolyna Truong (6-2, 6-1). No. 3 Lumanog defeated Chiasson 6-3, 6-1 in sealing the sixth point for the Warriors.
Midland (9-2) will have a couple of days to before stepping across the court against Nebraska Wesleyan (7-3) on April 6 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. versus the former GPAC foe with the Warriors being the victors in their last two matchups in 2016 (6-3) and 2021 (5-4).
