Warriors Place Sixth at KCAC Championships

ELKHART, Ind. – In a competitive showing at the KCAC Championships, Midland University delivered several noteworthy performances over the weekend. The Warriors earned a sixth-place finish as a team. Midland saw nine individuals make their mark in the pool during their respective finals and had a pair of third-place relay teams.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team, comprised of Lilli Heaston, Mya Nemechek, Lily Harrell, and Abby Ertz, secured a commendable third-place finish with a swift time of 1:38.89. The same quartet teamed up for the 400-yard freestyle relay, earning another third-place spot with a time of 3:37.98.

Individually, Mya Nemechek claimed a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 24.20. She continued her impressive performance with a fourth place in the 100-yard backstroke, completing the race in 59.26. Nemechek also secured a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.38.

Lilli Heaston demonstrated her speed in the pool, securing a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.63. In the 100-yard backstroke, she earned seventh place with a time of 1:01.37.

Quinty Rouschop contributed to the team's success with a solid performance, finishing fourth in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:55.33. In the 200-yard backstroke, Rouschop secured an eighth-place finish, touching the wall in 2:36.58.

Lily Harrell showcased her skills in the 100-yard butterfly, earning a sixth-place finish with a time of 59.97. Additionally, she picked up a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.52.

Midland displayed resilience and skill at the conference championship meet. They will now begin ramping up for the 2024 NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships set to be held the first week of March in Columbus, Georgia.
