Warriors Have Strong Showing at Luther Invite

DECORAH, Iowa – At the 2023 Luther Invitational held in Decorah, Iowa, Midland University's women's swimming team displayed notable performances, contributing to their fifth-place finish over two days co competition against five other schools. The meet's format consisted of 21 events with morning qualifying followed by evening finals for several of the events.

Lilly Harrell showcased her prowess by securing 6th place in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:02.22. Harrell continued to impress, claiming 2nd place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.44.

Quinty Rouschop exhibited skill in the pool, securing 6th place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:40.60. Rouschop further demonstrated her versatility, achieving 5th place in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:03.74.

Mya Nemechek's exceptional performance included a 2nd-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (53.16), a 5th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.41), and a 3rd-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (25.11).

Lilli Heaston made her mark with a 6th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (56.07) and a 5th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (25.16).

Abby Ertz demonstrated resilience with a 7th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (56.07) and an 8th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.24).

Competing against several NCAA Division II schools, Midland's swimmers had a strong meet at the Luther College Aquatics Center. Next up for the Warriors will be a dual with St. Ambrose. The head-to-head meet will take place on Saturday, December 2 in Davenport, Iowa.
