Warriors Best Conference Rivals in Triangular Meet

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Inside the Hindman-Hobbs Center on Saturday, Midland University took to the pool alongside the College of Saint Mary and host Morningside University. The Warriors bested the pair of Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) foes winning 8 of the 11 events. Midland had a score of 110 while Morningside scored 72 and CSM had 13.

In relay action, the Warriors started the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley. Lily Harrell, Quinty Rouschop, Mya Nemechek, and Abby Ertz combined for a time of 1:56.80 for first. The group of Payton Tull, Joelle Zipp, Sophia Gurrieri, and Sydney Allison were third with a 2:06.93.

Blake Patton added to the team total in the next event, placing third in the 1000-yard freestyle at 13:34.35.

Aria Felt picked up the first individual win for the Warriors in the 200-yard freestyle. She swam a time of 2:07.52.

Heaston and Ertz placed first and third in the 50-yard freestyle. Heaston's time of 25.56 reached the provisional standard for nationals while Ertz had a time of 26.32.

In the 200-yard individual medley, it was a 1-2 finish for Midland. Harrell won with a time of 2:21.41 followed by Rouschop's time of 2:25.35 for second.

It was the same 1-2 punch from different swimmers for the Warriors in the 100-yard butterfly. Nemechek won with a 1:02.19 while Gurrieri was runner-up with a 1:09.63.

Felt added a second win on the day in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.91. Allison was third in the event with a time of 1:01.54.

Heaston and Harrell took the top two times in the 100-yard backstroke. Heaston won with a 1:04.08, just barely out-touching Harrell's time of 1:04.28.

Midland capped off its day with another first and third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Nemechek, Heaston, Felt, and Ertz combined for a time of 1:43.71. Tull, Grace Chipman, Zipp, and Blake Patton were third with a time of 1:54.64.

Up next on the Warriors' schedule is the Kearney Invitational. They'll travel to Kearney, Nebraska for the two-day meet set to start on Friday, November 3 at the Kearney High Pool.
