GPAC Names Pair of Warriors Players of the Week

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced this week's conference women's soccer players of the week for contests played October 30-November 5, 2023. For the second straight week, Midland University swept the weekly awards. Hannah Schimmer was named the GPAC Offensive Player of the Week while Addison Castellanos was named the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Schimmer, a sophomore from Council Bluffs, had a pair of goals as Midland defeated the College of Saint Mary in the opening round of the GPAC Postseason Tournament. She paced the Warriors' attack with 9 shots on the Flames' defense. For the season, Schimmer leads the team in goals with 16, ranking 3rd in the conference and 20th nationally.

Castellanos, a sophomore from Murrieta, California, played a big role in the Warriors' shutout victory over the College of Saint Mary this week. As an anchor in the back line, she helped limit the Flames to just 4 shots in the GPAC Quarterfinal match, the second-fewest shots put up by the Flames this season. Addison has been a keep piece to Midland's run of seven matches without a defeat.
