Warriors Sweep GPAC Weekly Honors

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the Women's Soccer Players of the Week for contests played September 11-17, 2023. Midland University's Hanna Schimmer was named the GPAC Offensive Player of the Week while teammate Rosa Schellmann earned GPAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Schimmer, a sophomore from Council Bluffs, Iowa, recorded her second hat trick of the season and accounted for every goal as Midland downed (RV) Jamestown on Thursday. Two days later, she added another goal win the Warriors' 4-0 win over Waldorf. For the week, she was able to challenge the opposing defenses with 17 shots of which 8 were on target (.471 shots on goal pct.).

Schellmann, a junior from Siegen, Germany, played a big role in the Warriors' backline as they blanked defending GPAC Champion Jamestown (2-0) and Waldorf (4-0). In Midland's set pieces, Schellman was able to serve up an assist on a corner and also found the back of the net herself.

Midland will be back in action this weekend with a road contest at Dordt. First touch is slated for 4:15 p.m. in Sioux Center, Iowa.
