No. 5 Benedictine Controls Rematch with Warriors

ATCHISON, Kan. – Midland University took the field during spring break on Wednesday, facing No. 5 Benedictine in conference play. The Warriors, who fell to the Ravens in their season opener, met a similar fate as Benedictine secured a dominant 28-1 victory.

The Ravens wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, striking just 31 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. They continued to control possession and apply pressure, netting five more goals in the next four minutes before ending the first quarter with a commanding 13-0 advantage.

Benedictine extended its lead in the second quarter, scoring six more goals to take a 19-0 edge into halftime.

The Ravens struck again just 18 seconds into the third quarter to push the lead to 20-0. They tacked on six more goals before the end of the period, heading into the fourth quarter up 26-0.

Benedictine added two more goals early in the final frame before Midland got on the board with 5:08 remaining. Lauren Chick capitalized on an advantage opportunity, scoring an unassisted goal to make it 28-1. That proved to be the final score as the Warriors fell on the road in Atchison.

Statistically, Benedictine controlled the game, holding advantages in ground balls (21-6), draw controls (31-3), and shots (49-3).

Midland (0-4, 0-3 HAAC) returns home Saturday to host Culver-Stockton (4-3, 1-0 HAAC) at Heedum Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
