Warriors Compete at Weather-Shortened Waterloo Intercollegiate
WATERLOO, Iowa – Midland University returned to the course Friday, competing in the Waterloo Intercollegiate hosted by Hawkeye Community College at Gates Park Golf Course. Originally scheduled for two days, the event was shortened to a single 18-hole round due to impending weather. The Warriors finished sixth out of seven teams with a total score of 96-over par.
Midland's quartet turned in a solid 18-hole showing, led by Callie Maguire, who posted the team's low score. She carded a 9-over 45 on the front nine and an 8-over 44 on the back to finish tied for 23rd out of 45 golfers at 17-over-par 89. Brynn Knaus followed with steady play, highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole, shooting 48 (+12) on both the front and back nines to finish at 24-over-par 96 in 36th place.
Tessa Nicholson matched Maguire's front-nine score with a 9-over 45, including a birdie on the par-4 first hole, before posting a 16-over 52 on the back to finish at 25-over-par 97 and tie for 37th. Isabel Brown rounded out the lineup with rounds of 14-over 50 and 16-over 52, finishing at 30-over-par 102 in 41st place.
With the regular season winding down, the Warriors will now turn their focus to the GPAC Championship, scheduled for April 27-28 in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. Midland will look to build on this performance as it prepares to compete against the conference's top teams.
