Warriors Compete at Nebraska Intercollegiate Title

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University returned to the course early this week, traveling just down the road to Fremont Golf Club to compete in the Nebraska Intercollegiate. The Warriors handled wet conditions on Monday and played well enough to hold off Doane on Tuesday, finishing first overall in the eight-team field.

Midland posted a two-round total of 13-over-par 581, five shots ahead of second-place Doane, which finished at 18-over 586.

Brady Davis and Trevin Cunningham led the Warriors individually, tying for third out of 40 golfers. Both carded a 1-under 70 in the opening round and a 1-over 72 in the second round. Each player recorded one eagle and five birdies across the two days, finishing the tournament at even-par 142.

Janlo Zaayman was next for Midland, shooting a 3-over 74 in the first round before improving to a 1-over 72 with five birdies in the second round. He finished tied for sixth at 4-over 146.

Jaylin Jakub tied for 13th after carding a 3-over 74 on Monday and a 6-over 77 on Tuesday, finishing at 9-over 151 with four birdies. Rounding out Midland's scorers was Felipe Fortino, who placed 33rd at 19-over 161.

Cauy Walters of Doane and Brayden Schram of Nebraska Wesleyan tied for first in the men's individual standings at 4-under 138.

On the women's side, Midland's Isabel Brown placed 34th out of 36 golfers, shooting 41-over 112 in both rounds for a 36-hole total of 82-over 224. Teammate Tessa Nicholson placed 36th, carding a 50-over 121 on Monday and a 46-over 117 on Tuesday to finish at 96-over 238.

Wayne State's Gaia Stancikova and Hailey Kenkel tied for first in the women's individual standings at 11-over 153, leading Wayne State to the team title at 54-over 622.

The Warriors will return to action Oct. 13-14 at the Battle at the Dance in Windsor, Colorado, their final fall competition before the spring portion of the season.
