Lady Warriors suffer 90-50 loss at Northwestern

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – (RV) Northwestern College raced past Midland University on Saturday afternoon for a 40-point victory. Freshman Amanda Hansen served as the silver lining in the Lady Warriors loss, scoring a career-high 20 points.

"This was a disappointing game for us," said head coach Shawn Gilbert. "From the opening tip we were not able to match the intensity and pace of Northwestern. They were more prepared for this big game than us. We now need to regroup as next week is critical for our postseason goals. It is on us as a team to be better prepared."

The Red Raiders raced out to a 15-5 lead in the first quarter and went on to score 35 points in the first 10 minutes of action. Northwestern went on to take a 55-30 advantage into halftime and came out of the break to limit Midland to just nine points in the third quarter.

Northwestern shot over 60 percent in its dominant home victory while limiting the Warriors to a 27 percent clip from the field. The Red Raiders also owned the glass, out-rebounding Midland, 41-29.

MU falls to 15-12 overall and remains in a seventh-place tie with Doane at 7-11 in the GPAC standings. The Warriors and Tigers will face off on Wednesday in Crete, Nebraska.
