Warriors Sweep Weekly GPAC Softball Awards

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports have announced this week's softball player and pitcher of the week for contests played April 3-9, 2023. Midland University swept the awards with Aliyah Rincon earning the GPAC Pitcher of the Week and Carly Pfitzer garnering the GPAC Player of the Week award.

Rincon, a junior from Granada Hills, California, picked up her second no-hitter of the season as the Warriors won 7-0 at Concordia on Friday. She was nearly perfect in the circle with 15 strikeouts and no walks. The only Bulldog to reach base came via an error in the 6th innings. At the plate, Rincon went 2-for-3 in game two of the doubleheader with a three-run home run as Midland won 8-1.

Pfitzer, a senior from Gretna, Nebraska, was instrumental in Midland earning a road sweep at Concordia this week. She had RBIs in each of the two games, including a two-run home run in game one. In the second game, she reached base all four times, going 1-for-1 with a double and drawing three walks.
