Midland Runs Against Deep Field at Greeno/Dirksen Invite

LINCOLN, Neb. — Midland University competed at the Greeno/Dirksen Invite on Saturday morning at Mahoney Park Golf Course in Lincoln. The meet, hosted by the University of Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan University, featured 33 teams, including several from within the state.

On the women's side, the Warriors raced in the 5,000-meter event and finished 16th overall, while the men competed in the 8,000-meter event and placed 15th.

Sophomores Maddie Bergstrom and Danika Leuenberger led the Warrior women, finishing with times of 21:54.38 (180th) and 22:18.42 (190th), respectively.

For the second meet in a row, Lucas Hjortkjaer paced the Warrior men, placing 50th overall with a time of 25:49.88. Braden Taylor (27:42.18, 165th) and Koen Steenblok (28:03.70, 187th) were close behind.

Belinda Jepkemboi (23:43.33, 212th), Delanie Tally (25:41.73, 223rd) and Judith Chepkorir (29:18.23, 229th) made their 2025 season debuts. Also racing in their second meet of the season were Christian Olsen (29:04.01, 239th), Kelvin Korir (30:22.47, 272nd), Jay Stoa (32:23.03, 295th) and Preston Penney (33:25.52, 304th).

The Warriors will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Chile Pepper XC Festival on Oct. 4.
