Warriors Place Tenth at Seminole Valley Stampede

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – On a seasonably hot day for October, Midland University was in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the 2024 Seminole Valley Stampede. The Warriors, who placed 10th of the field of 19 teams, braved temperatures in the upper 80s while running the 10k course at Seminole Valley Park.

Lucas Hjortkjaer and Jonathan Mahoney placed in the top 50 in the field of over 200 runners. Hjortkjaer turned in a time of 25:21.9 to place 13th while Mahoney placed 44th with a time of 26:13.7. Henri Stoeckermann and Braden Taylor each made it into the top 100 with solid times. Stoeckermann placed 76th with a time of 26:56.5 while Taylor was 96th with a time of 27:31.0. Rounding out the team score was Koen Steenblok with a time of 27:36.2 and a 102nd placing.

Others running for Midland on Saturday were Adrian Imm (163rd; 29:45.3), Kelvin Koror (171st, 30:09.0), Christian Olsen (176th, 30:23.2), Hudson McCafferty (182nd, 31:01.0), Jay Stoa III (186th, 31:15.1), and Felix Grave (188th, 31.18.5).

Isaac Sytsma from St. Xavier earned the individual title with a time of 24:37.6 while Aquinas won the team title with four runners in the top 10.

Up next, Midland will be at the Platte River Rumble in two weeks. The Warriors will get their first look at the course in Ashland, Nebraska which will serve as the site of the 2024 Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship.
