Warriors Compete in Final GPAC Duals
MITCHELL, S.D. – On Saturday afternoon, Midland University competed in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Duals at The Fieldhouse, hosted by Dakota Wesleyan University. Midland went 0-3 on the day, suffering losses to teams receiving votes for the NAIA Top 25.
(RV) Dakota Wesleyan 35, Midland 20
At 125 pounds, Kaydon Mueller lost to Tukker Boe by fall at 2:21. At 133 pounds, Midland was open, giving Will Farren a victory and putting the Tigers ahead, 12-0.
In the 141-pound bout, Jackson Duncan was defeated by 19th-ranked Zach Zitek by fall at 3:00. Midland got on the board at 149 pounds when Zion Amerson defeated Zach Kolbe by technical fall, 15-0, at 1:48. After four bouts, Dakota Wesleyan led, 18-5.
Francisco Duran earned a victory for Midland via forfeit at 157 pounds. At 165 pounds, Logan Millikan lost to Teagan Foreman by fall at 2:39. After six bouts, the Tigers led, 24-11.
Midland was open at 174 pounds, giving 25th-ranked Kaleb Bigelow a victory. In the 184-pound bout, Treyton Tweton was defeated by 16th-ranked Temuujin Mendbileg by technical fall, 17-1, at 4:53. With two bouts remaining, DWU led, 35-11.
The Warriors claimed victory in the final two bouts of the dual. At 197 pounds, 9th-ranked Burton Brandt defeated Colten Hink by technical fall, 17-2, at 2:01. In the 285-pound bout, 20th-ranked Zeph Sivels defeated Cole Hennings, 11-3, in a major decision, making the final score 35-20 in favor of the Tigers.

Kaydon Mueller was defeated in the 125-pound bout by Morningside's Noah Thorsen by technical fall, 20-4, at 2:51. Midland was open at 133 pounds, giving Christian Ahren the victory. After two bouts, Morningside led, 11-0.
At 141 pounds, Jackson Duncan was defeated by Hunter Steffans by fall at 1:55. Zion Amerson recorded his second win of the day at 149 pounds, defeating Chris Aragon by major decision, 12-4. After four bouts, Morningside led, 17-4.
In the 157-pound bout, Francisco Duran lost to Caden Eggleston by technical fall, 15-0, at 4:17. Logan Millikan lost at 165 pounds to Braedyn Rakes by fall at 1:43. After six bouts, the Mustangs led, 28-4.
Midland was open at 174 pounds, giving Carson Turnis the victory via forfeit. At 184 pounds, Treyton Tweton lost to Alex Vandyke, 8-0, in a major decision. With two bouts remaining, Morningside led, 38-4.
In the 197-pound bout, 9th-ranked Burton Brandt defeated Bryce Kwiecinski by fall at 1:12. In the 285-pound match, Morningside was open, giving 20th-ranked Zeph Sivels the victory. The final score was 38-16 in favor of the Mustangs.

In the Warriors' final dual of the day, Midland could not score, losing all ten bouts. At 125 pounds, Kaydon Mueller lost to Taye Jordan by technical fall, 16-1, at 3:36. Midland was open at 133 pounds, giving Zachary Mayo the victory and putting the Red Raiders ahead, 11-0.
Jackson Duncan was defeated at 141 pounds by Kane Butrick by technical fall, 15-0, in 47 seconds. Zion Amerson lost at 149 pounds to Noah Parmelee in a 14-3 major decision. After four bouts, Northwestern led, 20-0.
At 157 pounds, Francisco Duran dropped a close 10-6 decision to Cade Braun. In the 165-pound bout, Logan Millikan lost to Devin Padilla by fall at 4:17. After six bouts, the Red Raiders led, 29-0.
Midland was open at 174 pounds, giving Cole Rutter the victory via forfeit. In the 184-pound bout, Treyton Tweton was defeated by Jose Sanchez, 17-4, in a major decision. With two bouts remaining, Northwestern led, 39-0.
Ryan Kocovsky wrestled for the Warriors at 197 pounds, losing to Kaleb Grove by technical fall, 19-3, at 4:23. Midland was open at 285 pounds, handing Jaxson Hildebrand the forfeited victory and giving the Red Raiders the 50-0 win.
Midland will return to the mats in two weeks when it competes in the GPAC Championships, hosted by Hastings College. Competition inside the Lynn Farrell Arena will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 21, and 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 22.
