No. 7 Doane Too Much for (RV) Warriors

CRETE, Neb. – (RV) Midland University took on a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) opponent for the second time in three days on Friday, falling to No. 7-ranked Doane University, 50-3, at the Haddix Center. The loss drops Midland to 0-2 in GPAC action, while Doane starts league play at 1-0.

The Tigers began with a 6-0 lead, as Midland forfeited the 125-pound match, giving the win to Doane's 19th-ranked Hunter Bennett. Doane added another six points with a forfeit at 133 pounds, claimed by 12th-ranked Matthew Terrence, bringing the score to 12-0.

The first contested match of the night was at 141 pounds, where Doane's 16th-ranked Devin Avedissian defeated Midland's Jackson Duncan by technical fall, 19-3, at 1:41, extending the Tigers' lead to 17-0. Another forfeit at 149 pounds gave Doane's Tristen Brown the victory and increased the Tigers' lead to 23-0.

At 157 pounds, Doane's Nathan Lendt defeated Midland's Tyren Schaefer by technical fall, 17-2, at 3:49, bringing the score to 28-0. In the 165-pound match, Doane's Edward Ramirez defeated Midland's Logan Millikan by technical fall, 17-1, at 3:07, widening the Tigers' lead to 33-0.

In the 174-pound bout, Doane's Benjamin Dobler pinned Midland's McKayde Clevenger in just 23 seconds, increasing the Tigers' lead to 39-0. At 184 pounds, fifth-ranked Tyson Beauperthuy of Doane pinned Midland's Colton Horne in 48 seconds, putting Doane up 45-0 with two matches remaining.

Doane's third-ranked Bradley Antesberger added another victory for the Tigers at 197 pounds, defeating Midland's Ryan Kocovsky by technical fall, 17-1, at 3:29, making it 50-0 heading into the final match.

Midland's Zeph Sivels secured the Warriors' lone victory at 285 pounds, improving to 3-0 on the season with a 2-1 decision over 16th-ranked Eli Criblez of Doane. This was Sivels' second victory over a ranked opponent this week. The dual ended with a final score of 50-3 in favor of Doane.

Midland will compete in an exhibition on Tuesday, November 12, against the Wayne State College's club team. The event will be held at North Bend Central High School in North Bend, Nebraska, with competition starting at 7:00 p.m.
