Warriors Wrap Up Conference Dual Action in Sioux City
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Midland University competed in three conference duals inside the Long Lines Recreation Center on Saturday. The Warriors battled (RV) Dakota Wesleyan University, No. 17 Morningside University, and Northwestern College in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) action.
DAKOTA WESLEYAN 42, MIDLAND 16
At 125 pounds, Janson Pilkington lost to Kipp Cordes by fall, at 2:08. The Warriors were open at 133, giving Temuujin Natsagdori the victory. Trevin Arlt earned a win for Midland at 141 pounds. Arlt earned a major decision victory, 11-3, over Tyson Durham. In the 149-pound bout, Zion Amerson lost to Zach Zitek, by fall, at 4:30. Zitek is the 21st-ranked wrestler in the 141-pound weight class. Midland was open in the next three matches. At 157, DWU's Zach Kolbe received the win. Tyson Johnson took a victory for the Tigers at 165 pounds and Kaleb Bigelow, the 11th-ranked wrestler in NAIA at 165 pounds, earned the victory at 174. Open weight classes at 184 and 197 gave the Warriors a pair of wins. Nate McDonald took the victory at 184 and Ryan Kocovsky did the same at 197. The Warriors were open at 285, handing the Tigers' Tanner Hennings the win.

Janson Pilkington lost to Caelan Oakes-Sudhish by fall, at 2:01. Midland was open at 133, giving Gabe Grice the victory. At 141, Trevin Arlt lost to 19th-ranked Taylor Vasquez by technical fall, 17-1, at 6:29 in the match. Zion Amerson put up a tough fight, but lost 13-10 to Chris Aragon, at 149 pounds. Midland was open at 157, giving the Mustangs' Noah Styskal the win. The Warriors were also open at 165, handing 23rd-ranked Zander Ernst the victory. Another open weight class at 174 gave the Mustangs' 24th-ranked Jackson Chapin a win. At 184, Connor Rinn lost to 6th-ranked Hayden Wempen, by technical fall, 19-4, at 5:19 in the bout. The 197-pound bout saw Ryan Kocovsky suffer a 14-7 loss to Brenick Hoppe. Midland was open at 285, and 5th-ranked Hunter DeJong took the victory for the Mustangs.
NORTHWESTERN 46, MIDLAND 3
Janson Pilkington lost to Logan Schroeder by fall, at 2:12. Jonny Burnette took the win for Northwestern at 133, as Midland was open. At 141, Midland's Adrian Delgado lost to Trey Schuck by fall, at 5:49. The lone victory for the Warriors came at 149 pounds when Zion Amerson defeated John Seth, by decision, 8-6. Both teams were open at 157 pounds. The Warriors were also open at 165 and 174. Devin Padilla took the Northwestern win at 165 and Braeden Campbell was handed the victory at 174 pounds. At 184 pounds, Nate McDonald suffered a loss to 25th-ranked Jakob Francksen-Small, by technical fall, 16-1, at 6:01 in the bout. At 197 pounds, Ryan Kocovsky lost to Kaleb Lind by technical fall, 15-0, at 1:37 in the match. Midland was open at 285 pounds, giving the Red Raiders' Logan Ash the victory.
Midland will return to the mat next weekend when it competes in the Missouri Valley Open. Competition at the Burns Athletic Center, in Marshall, Missouri, begins at 9:00 a.m.
