Rinn Leads Warriors at GPAC Duals

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Midland University joined others from around the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) on Tuesday night as they competed in a handful of duals inside the Long Lines Family Rec Center in Sioux City, Iowa. MU competed in a pair of team duals, taking on Briar Cliff University and the University of Jamestown. A shorthanded Warriors' squad dropped both duals on the night, falling to the Chargers, 50-5, and to the Jimmies, 39-6.

Briar Cliff 50, Midland 5

Connor Rinn picked up a decisive victory in his first bout of the night. He earned a technical fall over the Chargers' Daven Whitley, 16-1 in the second period, at 197 pounds. That would be the lone win for Midland in the four total bouts contested. Trevin Arlt lost to Ethan Krey (TF) at 141, Zion Amerson fell to Tyler Fouts (3:59) at 149, and Nate McDonald lost a 7-3 decision at 184.

Jamestown 39, Midland 6

The Warriors earned a pair of wins in their second dual of the night. At 141 pounds, Trevin Arlt picked up a win by decision over Jace Goebel, 5-2. Connor Rinn completed his night with his second win, taking an 11-8 sudden victory at 184 pounds over Diante Taylor. Zion Amerson was dealt a 15-0 technical fall at 149 while Nate McDonald lost a 9-0 major decision at 197.

Midland (0-3, 0-3 GPAC) will return to action on Saturday, December 2 when they travel to Crete, Nebraska to compete at the Conner/Oppenheim Doane Invite. Wrestling is scheduled to get underway at 9:00 a.m. inside Fuhrer Field House.
