Warriors Compete in Pair of Collegiate Cup Events

HOUSTON, Texas – Midland University turned in a strong weekend across two Collegiate Cup Series stops, earning multiple team titles and individual victories in both Houston, Texas, and Denver, Colorado.

Competing in Houston, the Warriors' women placed second in the raw division and won the equipped division, bolstered by a sweep of several weight classes. Arianna Jaramillo (48 kg), Hannah Hernandez (52 kg), Bianca Carrizales (56 kg), Addison Frazier (60 kg), Mya Rostro (65 kg), Jalynn Garcia (82.5 kg), Sophia Valenzuela (82.5 kg runner-up), and Terriny Pace (100+ kg) all won equipped titles. In raw competition, Brylee Batiste (90 kg) and Taylor Smith (100+ kg) added individual victories for the Warriors.

The Midland men matched the success, finishing third in the raw division and winning the equipped division. Samuel Tramonte (60 kg), Rick Reyna (67.5 kg), Javier Martinez (82.5 kg), Ryne Espinoza (100 kg), Cayetano Vidaurri (110 kg), and Hunter Bartram (125 kg) all claimed equipped titles. In raw competition, Emiliano Fraga (67.5 kg), Joseph Rolen (110 kg), and Larry Brooks III (125 kg) secured wins, with Jayden Ibarra (75 kg) adding a runner-up finish.

In Denver, Midland recorded another standout showing, with the men placing third overall (raw and equipped combined) and the women capturing the team title. The Warriors earned four individual wins, highlighted by Mariah Velasco's victory at 48 kg and Madison Klein's win at 75 kg. Leah Warner (90 kg) and Alizza Schieber (90 kg) went one-two in their division to secure crucial team points.

On the men's side, Logan Miller (90 kg) and Seth Penn (110 kg runner-up) led the Warriors, while Adam Pech took second at 100 kg to further bolster Midland's team total.

Midland will return to competition later this season as it continues. Up next for the Warriors will be the USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals in April, down in New Orleans, Louisiana.
